These are photos that I think capture essential aspects of the subject's character. These are the kinds of photos I would typically paint from, although of sufficiently high quality that I find them enjoyable on their own. In this section I have portraits of people and animals, partly to better consolidate the sections of the website but mostly because the goal is not so different when shooting them.

Some of there photos were taken with the EX-Z750, but most were shot using the 40D and the Canon 28-135mm lens.

   Allistair, 2008 to 2009

  
 

I have taken a lot of photos of Allistair, due mostly to proximity. But I am surprised how many of them have turned into quality photographs. These were shot with the EX-Z750 and 40D, the latter using the 28-135mm lens most often set between 35mm and 70mm.

                
           
           
           
           
            		 
 
 
 

   Animals, 2004 to 2007

  
 

These were all taken with non-SLR digital cameras. The small lens apertures provided significant challenge with low light compositions, particularly in conjunction with the randomly moving marine subjects.
