BMWCCA's LA Chapter runs an annual driving school and club race at Auto Club Speedway. I was asked to shoot the events for their newsletter.

In March 2010 my friend Mark and I took our BMWs to the hills above Malibu for a professional photo shoot for Bimmer and Performance BMW magazines, respectively. These are some of my shots from that day.

I shot these photos with my 40D, using 17mm to 50mm lenses. They were taken following his transplant of an M Coupe's S52 motor in place of the 325's, and thus focus on the engine bay.

These are shots of various BMWCCA club racers at Auto Club Speedway. They are all shot with a Canon 100-300mm lens from the pit lane and the starter's box. The last rows of pictures are those that were published in the BMWCCA LA Chapter's magazine "Whispering Bomb".

These photos were taken at Willow Springs on the "big" track and feature several SoCal BMWs. Shot with the 100-300 lens.

This was my first automotive shoot with the 40D. I was focused on contrasting the monotone colors of the cars with the signature colors of the Santa Ynez valley.

These pictures come from a variety of BMW club events and non-BMW car shows.

During this period I was still taking automotive photographs as a source for my paintings, not as standalone art. But some of them turned out interesting in their own right. In 2007 I started focusing on the photographs for their own sake, trying to capture in the lens what I previously captured on canvas.

Venues for these pictures include the Petersen Automotive Museum, SEMA, The Nethercutt Collection, Cruis'n For A Cure and various BMW events.
