Porsche 977
Created targeting the guidelines of
MotorTrend's 2002 Design Contest, the Porsche 977 was my entry in accordance with the
contest's challenge:
"Participants will be asked to 'race into the future' by selecting their favorite
racing series and then designing a racecar that would compete during the year
2020 season." It won a semi-finalist
position in the "Amateur, 18-25 year old" category, and was displayed at an
exhibit during the 2002 California International Auto Show.
Unlike my GT42 entry of 2001, which I took very seriously, I
used this year's entry as an excuse to enjoy design purely for the sake of
design. I was confident that my 977 would find a place on "the wall" at the auto
show and equally confident that the design would not win any ribbons. I am
pleased to say that my 977 is true to its conceptualization and placed exactly
as I planned.
